Another example of some parts of the mainstream media shooting the whole of it in the foot. By defending the indefensible (Ra
thergate, Eason Jordan, Newsweek, and now Linda Foley), they
make the industry suffer:
The average circulation decline among 684 US daily papers is averaging 1.9% in the past year. In some places it is catastrophic. This is the biggest drop in the last five years. And no one is forecasting a turnaround yet. In case it hasn't occurred to anyone, that means fewer slots for Newspaper Guild workers. Media credibility is in the toilet, even if the Koran isn't.
Ouch...

Well,
this was (*cough*) unexpected:
"George Lucas said he was finished with the Star Wars movies."
(Wait for it...)
"Ebert didn't believe him..."
(Waaaaaiit for it...)
"It seems George Lucas told a scooper that he has an idea..."
(Uh oh...)
"...for another add-on to the Star Wars movie series..."
(Yeah, we figured; but so soon?...)
"...a prequel to The Phantom Menace."
Whaa? GAAAAAAHHH!!
The story would follow the Jedi regaining control of the universe from the many Dark Lords some 88 years before Anakin Skywalker ever graced the universe. Yoda, who, according to Lucas, was instrumental in the effort, would apparently have a headlining role.
Mercifully, Lucas says he won't be doing it, if it's done at all. (Please, let it be Spielberg. Or maybe Whedon... now
that would be interesting...)

From
the Mirror:
[BBC] Radio 2 listeners voted for the best song from each decade since 1955...
The result?
THE Kinks and David Bowie beat the Beatles and the Stones as the top five songs of the last 50 years...
In order, they chose You Really Got Me by the Kinks, Space Oddity by David Bowie, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, West End Girls by the Pet Shop Boys and Angels by Robbie Williams. There was no win for the Beatles, John Lennon or the Stones.
I've never understood the fascination with the Beatles, especially John Lennon - I can't stomach most of his solo work. (I've never understood the Elvis following, either, for that matter, but that's another post for another day.)
It's nice (as well as about time) that other great British artists are getting some recognition instead of the obvious "best band".
Faith in British music fans? Restored!

Five AM today... Reilly woke us up. As I'm sitting here doing my work this afternoon, I can't keep my eyes open.
Anyone who doesn't know us might say, 'well my baby wakes me up all the time.'
For two and a half years straight? This got old a year and a half ago.
I know you all are praying for us. Please keep it up! I could use an extra shot of energy, and some rest.

Welcome to my new blog home.
I've been using a standard
Nucleus CMS version on the old site, rather than the
Multi-Domain Nucleus that I've been working on and having lots of people test for me. It's been a pain maintaining two databases, I get a ton of spam on the
old site, I don't like its layout anymore, and I should eat my own dinner so to speak. So here I am!
I'm sick of the comment spam, so I've shut down comments on the old one. The old posts will hang around for posterity though. I don't feel like spending the time to move them here.
Cheers,
Me
